    App updates create a problem

On my tablet running ICS the downloaded Apps are set to update automatically. When this happens the App is automatically moved from the internal SD card to the memory, not what I want! I now have to transfer them back.
The process also creates a small icon (a handbag containing a solid arrow) in the bottom right of the screen which if touched gives a drop-down menu showing all the updated Apps. To get rid of these Icons I now have to open each App and then close it, a big waste of time.
Has anyone got any ideas on stopping all this please?
