External Amplifier with Coby MID8120 (Android 2.3)

Got this as a birthday present, and have found that I like it more than I ever expected to. One issue I'm having involves hooking it up to an external amplifier. I'm using a decent quality (Monster Cable) adaptor to connect it to the CD Input of a standard audio receiver. Seems to work fine for a while, but then it will crash the tablet, and/or, start making a loud humming noise. Have run it with the included ear buds with no problem, so I'm wondering if perhaps there's an impediance mismatch? Figured before I wasted a lot of time trying to wire up some kind of buffer, I'd check and make sure that it's not a "can't get there from here..."
