No microphone, but USB Mic or Headset???

My question is if anyone has TREID a USB (not a 2.5mm mini phone plug) headset. If anyone please has the opportunity to test a USB headset, please post your results and please stop polluting the thread with comments about what "you think" and testing with the 2.5 mm mini phone connector.

I want to know actual TESTS, and yes Android will run SIP clients and they run quite well on some android phones that are much slower. I too am a techie and VoIP is part of what I do. No matter what unit I am looking at there are unanswered questions relating to my needs, so I am starting here with the USB (READ: USB, NOT MINI PHONE) headset TEST question, and not what someone's opinion is.

you all know this in not a FONE it is a tabletPC. yes i know it runs android and that is a foneOS but still if you want a mic/web cam/keyboard get the droid x or a new computer. the gt is used for light web surfing and emails and some game not much more. i got this cuz im a techy and i know wut to do with it. to me this is just a toy and not a way of life.

I have to disagree with your statement above. This is not a toy and none of these Android Tablets are consider a toy. This would be considered a toy for kids. Called a StoryPad.

This is the Euro version of the Gentouch78 called SmartSurfer it has the Mic and Cam in the lower / upper left side

No, it will not work (yet). There is no power from the on-board USB connector so it cannot host any device.

I plugged in two different usb headsets, nothing; two keyboards, nothing; two different usb optical mice, nothing; usb bluetooth dongle, nothing.

USB OTG hosting is simply not enabled yet. Here is hoping that will change soon!

I am assuming usb will be enabled soon, why would they include a mini usb to usb adapter?

Unfortunately most of the rest of these replies were superfluous, or even useless.

I suspect there are a lot of kiddies here with nothing more than time on their hands to post answers that they have not confirmed.

Thanks again for this great reply however. I was unaware that the USB port was not a USB host port. That blows this model out of the consideration.

Yeah, from the above thread, apparently one guy(sorry forgot your nick) put the Smartsurfer fw on his and it apparently let him set hosting mode worked with a bunch of kbs & mice... be nice if it could work with a USB GPS unit(if one exists... must be one made somewhere... still...) ... so USB headphone/mic might work if there's a compatible driver...

so if Augen got that in their version of the fw officially and got 3D accel, I'd be pretty happy and let some other things slide... but that no full Mali driver stack is killing me...
