That's what I feared, Coby did mount /system read-only.
Will have to try something else.

Ok here is root attempt #2 if anybody will kindly try.
I am fairly certain it will work on the 7042, might need to be modified for the others.

If this works I take no credit, the root exploit was done by saurik.
The only thing I did was figure out the offsets for Coby's run-as bin.

Instructions:
- Install USB drivers like in earlier post
- Download and unzip attached file
- Run root.bat

If it worked you should now be rooted.

Hopefully this one works, and sorry about the previous failed attempt.

Ok that is good news, the exploit did work.
I just need to use 'busybox cp' in the root script.

I'll fix the script really quick.

I have also updated the fw dump script to request root permissions.

I tried the root explorer option in es file browser and it said test failed, feature doesnt work on this phone
not sure if that means anything

edit: firmware dumped fully now
will upload everything for you

That error usually happens when ES explorer is cooked into a ROM. I think it's a bug in the app.
I believe you are rooted though, since it was able to dump the boot files.
