surfing the web I found that my tablet (AKAI MID7031C-4G capacitive) is the clone of the coby kyros MID7048.
First I followed this guide:Root and Gapps for Telechips, 7032,7034,7036,7048,8048
(I had to install the zip from recovery mode since I don't have the Install Updates menu)

the installation completes successfully but it has no effect.

Now I'm trying to install 8048_recovery_signed.zip but I receive the following error:

    assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/recovery.img","recovery")
    E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
    (Status 7)

    Am I missing something?
It's saying your device is different, so it won't write recovery. Make your own thread post mount and partition results.

You can modify the Rom however you want.

Theme Chooser cannot be added to ROMs via a flashable zip as it requires code be added to SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk, and perhaps other apps. If CM9 or 10 is built from source then it will have Theme Chooser capability, as the snippets of code needed to get it to work are in the source. AOKP I don't believe has Theme Chooser capability. At least, I didn't see it when I upgraded my roommate's HTC Inspire with an AOKP ROM.
I do not accept PMs asking for one-on-one tech support. Ask on the forums so everyone can benefit.

Q: Why does an App say it's not compatible on Google's Play Store?

A: The build.prop is faulty and files are missing from \system\etc\permissions. Download the file from here and install it.

Q: Why does Google Earth refuse to start on stock ROMs?
A: Google Earth expects to be able to pinpoint your location. Read this thread to fix things.

It's a very strange thing... my tablet looks identical to mid7048 and has the same specifications!
Anyway could you please link me a guide to get "mount and partition results"? I think that in my city were sold a lot of these cheap devices so I would like to collaborate.
    Thank you

as i am new to this tablet process i have a question. is there some type of guide to modifying or porting roms for these tablets. i know myself could probly figue ot how to change the things i wantnto change the only problem is identifying the aspects of the tablet system i am looking to mod or change.i have done a coule phones before but as i said before i am new tablets. as for building from source i would love to know how or have that capability. is there any guides or specifics on showing someone how to do so. i would think it would be alot easier to mod this already created rom to have whatever i want but just a standard cm9.or 10 rom would be perfect for this device. is it possible to alter or edit one of the cm9 builds from another coby gen 3 to work on this device without having to build completly from source?

I don't know of any guides, there may be. I just treat the device as a Linux PC and make my changes based on that. I also use Google a lot.

This rom is running excellently on my 7048. It makes everything look more clear and it feels less laggy. I also found it much more responsive than the stock rom. When I tried to click on small things (especially things in the corner like the search magnifying glass) the stock rom made this very difficult. This is no longer an issue with the 8048 custom rom. Keep up the good work vampire Without you these tablets wouldn't be worth a d@mn!!!!
