I think the ZMS-08 is based on ARM Cortex A8 processer (ARM licensed their processor design to OEM companies who then manufacture the processors with their own custom specs).

    ARM Cortex-A8 at 1 GHz
    256K L2 Cache
    NEON
    TrustZone Security Technology
    1 GByte Addressable RAM
    32K I/D Caches

You can find out the specs for the ARM cortex A8 processor from ARM website:
    Cortex-A8 Processor - ARM

So ZiiLabs couples the ARM Cortes A8 processor with Ziilabs' own "Flexible Stemcell Computing Array"

The Stemcell computing array features 64 fully programmable floating point processing elements that off-load the intensive media processing tasks from the ARM CPU to deliver superior media capabilities coupled with improved application performance. This flexibility enables users to experience the widest range of existing and emerging media standards.

Multi-format Video, Image and Audio CODECs
    2D/3D Graphics and Compositing
    Image Processing
    Integer and Floating Point
    Audio Processing
    Offloads the ARM Core
    Low-power, High Compute Density

So after reading what is on ARM website and Creative's website, I think that there are very little variations in the different versions of ARM cortex A8 processors in the market. Ziilabs seemingly only added 64 Floating Point Processing Elements to the ARM cortex Processor... and they spent a fortune to do so...

wonders if there are any benchmarks on the different customised versions of ARM cortex processors in the market.

and also different combined performance in using different 2D/3D graphics processing chips like the the GPU in Tegra2 or PowerVR-based graphics processing core.

    --------------------------------------
Tegra 2 features a bunch of individual processing cores on a single chip, each of which can be turned off or scaled back to carefully manage power consumption. There's an audio processing core, a 2D/3D graphics processor, an HD video decoding processor (capable of smooth 1080p playback), an HD video encoding block, an audio processor, and a still image processor.

Tegra 2 upgrades the ARM11 CPUs in the original chip to the ARM Cortex A9. The Cortex A9 is avilable with up to 4 cores, but Tegra 2 ships with a dual-core version. This is a substantial improvement - the Cortex A9 is an out-of-order speculative superscalar processor that offers 2.5 Dhrystone MIPS per core at speeds up to 1GHz. It's safe to say it's several times faster than the ARM11 cores in the original Tegra, and a significant step up from even the Cortex A8 found in products like the iPhone 3GS.

Well the tools we have are Linpack, GLBenchmark, and a whole lot more... I don't really know off the top of my head...

Basically you have have the base applications processor, but what surrounds it can differ, also manufacturing processes... They will do some tweaks as well...
