Does the HDMI port require activation in software? if so is there another method by which it can be activated?

I ask this because I have a MID 7022 with damaged screen and was hoping I could use just the HDMI out to recover some information on the tablet and maybe use it as a dedicated web browser on my TV. Since ZZI have no way of seeing he menu options I can not tell if I need to activate it or if the whole tablet is dead. I get nothing on HDMI output

Thanks

It works (at least should) just by connecting the cable.
Does the screen light up when you turn the tablet on? If not, the tablet is probably bricked (or just discharged).

Sorry it has teken me a while to get back here. I am pretty syre it is NOT bricked. I used to see SOMEWHAT of a display on it and even then , no HDMI out. I read on another forum about activating HDMI on the Coby Kyros MID7022 so I am pretty sure that may be the case that it needs activated.

I wish I could find a way to activatre it without having any display.
