a501 requesting for 16 digit code

my acer a501 is requesting for 16 digit code when i insert a sim card into it. please need help about it as its almost becoming useless to me

Sounds like its asking for a unlock code(sim from a carrier different from the one you bought it from) or a sim unlock code. Call your carrier and they can point you in the right direction.
