I'm new to the whole tablet world and am interested in buying a used Acer A500. I found one but it only has 8gb of storage. The owner claims its upgradable because it has "expandable memory". How exactly can the memory be upgraded to at least 16gb.

Hi rwolak, welcome to the forum. Nice of you to become a member of Android Tablets. On a tablet, "expandable memory" means it has a slot you can insert a MSD or micro SD card into thereby increasing the memory by the size of card you insert. This space can be used to store music, books, movies etc. on the tablet.

The Acer A500 is a great tablet. I bought one when they first came out and just recently bought the Nexus 7. Acer is a big name in computers and it should serve you well. Enjoy it, I loved mine. I just wanted the smaller 7" size and the Nexus was just released and I had to get it. By the way, I gave my Acer A500 to a good friend and fellow church member and he loves it too.
