Two questions,can't get any updates,think I'm at 0.6.1.5 (587),and battery won't charge past 85%.When I hit check updates says no available network.Using wifi and have internet access and all.What to do? says firmware version 2.1 update 1 v 2.0#3045, kernal version 2.6.32.9
And to top it off now I'm getting,sorry-the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly-please try again,on all apps I try.Wonder what i have done now???

Well no one can help, you have no updates, so problem 1 isn't a problem.
As far as apps crashing do a factory reset, you will lose all your settings but should stop the crashing.
