My tablet will come on and then go off after a few secondsAlso, I can't get the home screen to do anything. I can't get it to power off. Any suggestions?

You mean go off? There's something wrong with your tablet (I assume you already knew that), press the reset button (if there is one) and then restart it.

If there's no reset button, I think you should send it back to your seller for repair.

Check for the pin hole ad try the reset,
This normally fixes any issues,
If the problem was cause to a app stuffing up the launcher then depending on the model you have to do a full factory restore,
Recorvey menu is different for every tablet, depends on the brand and model...

Do you know the brand and model number????
