Antivirus Apps, Yes Or No?

I'm using a Baidu Anti virus. It is a free tool that will protect our android from any harmful app that can cause problems with the device.

I use it too, it's a really nice app in this case

I think that antivirus is useful and necessary, also on the smartphone, because any device contains personal and sensitive data (contacts, credit cards, accounts, and so on...). I use a free antivirus (also with an useful call blocker).

What are your views on them, particularly for someone who will be using unsecured wifi on occasions? Are they beneficial or unnecessary, and if the former, what do you recommend? People I know who use them seem to think Bitdefender and CM Security are pretty good, but that Avast is a bit resource heavy.

I using Lookout for AV and Cerberus to keep the tablet and phone controllable remotely in case of loss.

For me, I don't find it necessary as long as I don't click too much on ads. Sometimes ads are the cause of having phone virus, as well as porn sites. LOL!
