I'm curious about which app from which container/codec/bitrate can play 720p videos with original framerate. Theoretically the hardware (Qualcomm Snapdragon S1) can handle them somehow.
Does anyone have any success?

It depends on codecs. On my Ideos S7 (not slim) I've played 720p videos very smoothly with stock player.

Ok, but what codec? And what container?

use audio/video codec and container that support hardware decoding.

audio: aac
video: h264/avc
container: mp4 or mkv (to be play with moboplayer.
and dont give too much bitrate, as far as remember adreno 200 has max capability 2500 kbps.

Stock player doesn't support avi container. Or am I missing something

I´m using custom rom, may be the video player incluided is not the original player.

I have tryied with 1080p video (avengers teaser), with Mobo player. It played good, maybe 20 frames per second, sound and video was well syncronized.

Playing around some codecs and containers without a little success leads me the conclusion that I can't avoid recoding the common mkv/h264 movies.
And this means no sense playing 720p videos on a 800x480 screen.

i guess Huawei put a sample 720p video (mp4) on S7 slim. (S7 demo video).
i don't know where is the location of file but i've seen it in the ROM file.

if you can find it you can check that video settings (AV codec/bitrate).
