Media companies have some ridiculous criteria to prevent pirating. You could have an unlocked bootloader, you could have the unknown sources box checked in settings our you can simply have root access without having to root the device. I don't know the specifics of your device you may want to look here Allwinner A10 Based but essentially they are trying to make sure your device is extremely locked down.
The irony is you are trying to be legit and they may be forcing you to download content through alternate methods. You would think tv and film would have learned from music but they haven't. The whole media industry have their heads on backwards when it comes to this stuff.
