Archos 101 startup routines

I'm new to the world of android tabs. My archos 101 starts up and imediately starts to run a dozen apps, reducing the available memory by well over half. How can I control what android choses to run upon startup?

If your tablet is rooted, you can get the autostarts app. It works well. I use it on my droid x and my coby kyros.
