ASUS has taken to the Computex stage today in its native Taiwan to unveil a whole host of new Android powered tablets. On the menu are new MeMo Pads, an all new Fonepad and a hybrid mashup of Windows 8.1, Android and ASUS' Padfone concept.

The new Fonepad now boasts an 8-inch display and like the Fonepad and the design is improved upon the original with much slimmer bezels. We also now get dual front speakers around the 1280x800 resolution display and inside the Fonepad 8 is powered by Intel's Atom™ Z3560 1.8GHz quad-core processor that was announced at Mobile World Congress. While the Fonepad has 3G connectivity, it looks as though that may well be it with no mention of LTE.

The new MeMo Pads come in 7- and 8-inch form factors with the MeMo Pad 8 claiming to be the world's lightest 8-inch LTE tablet. Both have – albeit slightly different – Intel 64-bit quad-core CPUs but other details are currently slim pickings. The 7-incher has a 5MP rear camera and we know that the 8-inch has Gorilla Glass 3 covering its display. Both come in a range of colors and boast ASUS' latest Zen UI that was first announced at CES.
Perhaps most interesting of all however is the Transformer Book V. ASUS is no stranger to making hybrid devices but this one pretty much covers all bases. It has five different modes: Android tablet, Windows Tablet, Android laptop, Windows laptop, Android smartphone. The Transformer Book V combines previously seen – and never released – concepts of Windows/Android laptop hybrids with its Padfone Android phone/tablet devices. Crazy.
The laptop and tablet display is 12.5-inches in size and in Windows form has a hard drive up to 1TB in size. In tablet form the storage goes down to a still respectable 128GB. We're looking at Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4 KitKat, and a 5-inch smartphone that also runs KitKat atop an Intel quad-core CPU. The ultimate all-in-one system? Maybe, but first we're hoping this one makes it safely to market.
