Things are going good over at Asustek. They just posted rising profits for the third quarter, and most of that was due to strong sales of the Nexus 7 that Asus manufacturers for Google, as well as strong sales of their own Transformer series of tablets. Here's a quote with a few more details,

Apparently Samsung isn't the only manufacturer who can turn a profit on Android.

It isn't about Android itself, it's about OEMs making compelling products which for a long time has been missing. Sure people have been taking their shots at it but for some reason it seems to take direct Google influence (Nexus devices) to get the ball rolling. Let's be honest the OEMs strategy since way back in the PC days has been to make the junkiest thing they can sell and crank those out. There is a reason race to the bottom applies to PCs. That has largely gotten better thanks to Apple pushing things forward but on many levels the OEMs still try and get away with the minimum or at least lack the coherent vision to ever pull anything off without outside direction either from a partner or the competition.

Having a Nexus device where Google has had its input seems to have helped HTC, Samsung and now Asus but is up to each of them to keep the ball rolling once they have a successful product.
