I'm new to Android and have an A500 arriving in the post anytime soon:eek:

What I would like to know is:

  • will the A500 play AVI files straight out the Box?
  • will I have to Convert my AVI files?
  • is there a free app that I can use instead of converting?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the input guys.

I was worried that I may have to convert my AVI movies to play on the tablet.

I will try the free apps and might also try and rip a few DVDs when I get a chance.

Just remember, not all avis are ripped the same way. I have found the XVID format of avi to work like a champ.

avi is a container format, it can contain different audio and video codec, according to my own experience, the players can't play all the avi videos, some avis playback with issues, such as audio and video are not synchronized, no audio etc

I downloaded the trial version of foxreal, but ended up with the logo right across my screen. Does anybody know how I can get rid of it please ? Or does anyone know where I can buy the foxreal software ie with disc as opposed to full download, here in the UK ?
