I got word of some netbooks being rebranded from Android 1.5 Cupcake to Android 2.1 Eclair.

This will be moved to the Rockchip section after a bit. I just wanted some reads on this before I do that.

If true... that is very freaking lame and highly unprofessional to say the least.

Aha, I was wondering about that, but had nothing in my hand. I have been trawling AliExpress and saw Both 8505 and RK2808 running Eclair. I knew you could run Eclair, although sluggish, on an 8505. But was surprised by the 2808 running it. Now it is starting to fall together. My fear is this is like the ZT180 fraud. and we will have users very upset.

Well the ZT180 was much worse, because they rebranded the actual CPU and advertised it as a Cortex A8 to the people they supplying to. This looks like it is just a firmware remarking (build.prop).

The thing is, the RK2818 is legitimately shipping with Eclair Android 2.1. It would be stupid for Rockchip to do this. RK2808 is in clearance bins right now. So...
