What am I not understanding? I am attempt to reinstall the software for my tablet. WM8650. I have the files I need: ramdisk (image file), system (image file), uImage (file), updater (file), and userdata (image file). Why can I not just copy these files to my micro sd card and they install? I have tried to create a bootable sd card. Some method I have tried over the past few days are, just reformat the sd card in FAT32, IUW1.2.exe (but it ask for *.ius files which I do not have), Flashboot.exe, and WinHex (Clone Disk). I do not understand what I am missing. I want to be able to put the files I need on my micro sd card, put that into my tablet, and then have them install onto my tablet. What am I missing? Am I not able to do this? How do I get the os software reinstalled onto my tablet? Please Help!

Thanks,
-Mr. (Really) Frustrated

Follow these directions exactly:

Make sure your tablet is off.
Remove the SD Card.
Download the V9 Final ROM file to your pc from the following link . Make sure you know
where to find it after it downloads:

Here is the link to the files you will need
http://creativeconceptcomputers.com//downloads/public/WM8650.7z save it to
your desktop and get winrar to unpack the zip file at
http://rarlab.com/rar/wrar41b4.exe

Insert the SD Card into the media reader on your desktop PC.
The SD Card will now show up as a drive letter on your PC's File Manager,
just like C:\ except with a different letter assigned.

Every computer will be different. Let's just say that on your PC it is G:\.
Right click the drive letter of the SD Card (G:\). A pop-up menu appears.
Select "format" and format the card to Fat32.
Now, using a program like winzip or winrar, extract the ROM file that you
downloaded to your PC earlier to a new folder on your desktop
.
After it has extracted, it will have these folders:
firmwareinstall
Changer_files
and these 3 files on it:
changer.bat
wmt_scriptcmd
Universal_Uberoid_WM8650_v9.1.2.txt

Using your PC mouse, double click the "changer.bat" file. A pop up screen
appears.
Type in RT3070 and hit "enter" (this enables Wi-Fi support)

Select the option number that corresponds to your tablet and press enter.
( I found option 27 to work on most wundermedia wm8650 ) if that doesn't work
run it again and choose option 2 (if that doesn't work, keep trying different
options until you get the right one)
if that one hangs on the option
you selected, you will just have to keep running the changer and selecting a
different option number until you get it right. Make sure that after it does
boot that the touch screen does in fact work.

(Please, if you are trying multiple options, just remember to try options
only for the size tablet you have.
For instance, if you have a 7 inch tablet, try only options
1,2,7,8,9,11,12,13,16,20,21,23,25,26,27,28,29,30,3 1, and 32.

After you select your option number and hit enter, the changer.bat will ask
you if you want to install the ROM on your SD Card hit y (yes) and if you
want your SD Card formatted. Answer "NO" since you already formatted it
earlier, let the program finish running completely and it will tell you when
its done.
Now safely remove the SD Card from the PC media reader.

Insert the SD Card back into your tablet and turn it on.

it will show a progress bar on the bottom, when it's done it will tell you
to remove the sd card , (don't remove card until it says to) when you do
the tablet will reboot
.
Select the wmtlauncher when it comes to options screen and set as the
default and that's all there is to it.

This should only take a few minutes to boot the first time. Make sure that
after the tablet is up and running , that you reformat the sd card in a
computer again before you put it back in your tablet for storage
.

Main features:
* Live Wallpaper Support! ("butterfly" live wallpaper included!)
* Honeycomb styled launcher, framework and icons
* Extreme WM8650 compatibility (60 models +!)
* Customizable ROM, make it even more LITE for example (see CHANGER 'x' for
more info)
* 100% Rooted
* Audio Boosted
* Memory cleaning boosted
* Memory read/write boosted
* Lite version, stripped away many apps
* Tries to support as many languages as possible
* Real Google Market (v3.1.3)
* Real working YouTube

Hope this works for you ...

It just boots to the Android screen and then goes to a black screen with or without the sd card with the software. It is not booting to the SD Card. Any thoughts? Thank you for the help. I have a newer tablet, it has Android 2.3.3 on it. From what I have read, the firmware came from this website EKEN Tablet PC,Car DVR Support Download Center . My tablet software is the same as M009F. How would I install this firmware? When I initially looking at the software I thought it was 3.3.3, but I am assuming I was wrong. I have a few WM8650 with the Android 2.2 on them, this one I ordered has 2.3.3, but it is not loading past the word "Android" screen. How do I get back this back, so I can boot new software from the sd card and so I have the Newer Android 2.3.3 installed? Thank you.

My daughter cannot play online games with her WM8650 eken 2.2 kernel 2.6 32. Can someone help me? Also, the tablet came without an SD card. Is it necessary to have one and if so, what kind should I purchase? I hope I posted this on the correct page. This is all still new to me. : ? Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

@momof2: I don't know which online games she is trying to play, but many are beyond the hardware capabilities of these tablets. For others, you are better off with a custom ROM, and yes you will need a micro SD card to install that. I prefer Uberoid (I'm running version 11 myself.) For the sd card, don't buy a no-name, with current prices get a decent recognizable brand name.

@miloboy05: did you run the changer.bat file? The z4root is not required to install uberoid. Also, did you download it from techknow forums or another site? I have seen some places where they have modified or stripped out some components. I recommend to get it from the source. You will get a wizard.bat file and sdcard.bat file that will help ensure you have everything set up correctly.

@ mrfrustrated: I would follow the same advice and install uberoid. The stock ROM is far inferior and I see no point in spending time trying to get it working.

addendum: I wouldn't bother with uberoid V9. It's better than stock but V11 is far better than V9.

Sounds like you have the 24Pin clone model(The one that has the same USB to PC CABLE as an iPod) if you are using the files you have described.
I bought a whole shipment of them that came without the Operating System installed.
So I had to find the firmware, the IUW tool, and the instructions which I translated into an easily understandable English version.
Making a bootable SD card version never worked for me either.
If you do have the 24 Pin Model for sure, then here is a Complete System Restore Package with easy instructions .
