bootable cm7 sd card but cant get rom manager to install gapps

so like the title says,

i got a bootable sd card running cm7. it works, but i cant install gapps because when i load up rom manager and touch "reboot in recovery mode" i get a boot loop telling me to contact support. how am i suppose to load gapps on sd card when it doesnt reboot into clockwork mod
