Bought Nook with 2.3.4 off ebay. No Google Sync?

The unit is in beautiful shape, and the seller is a reputable guy. I bought it to play with, and because it was already rooted, it was one less thing I'd have to do.

When I go to add contacts, use the market, or anything really, it wants an account to sync up with. I go to Accounts and Sync, and it has no account, so I click to add one, but it's an exchange account.

It's running CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC1-encore
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Build GRJ22

Any ideas?

Do I need to root it myself and install something that's missing?

Thanks,

Blake

Also, I have a "Dev Tools" app in my drawer - when I open it and click on Google Login Service, I get an error that the program (process com.android.development) has stopped unexpectedly.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the gapps weren't installed on this unit.

I'm heading out to pick up an SD card, and I'll start making the necessary moves to root this thing again. I'll check back later and hopefully there may be a reply or two with some advice/insight into this little pickle.

Can you install/run Gmail? Or YouTube?
That should link your device to a google acct.
