Can I move the status bar to the top?

The location of the Color Nook navbar drawer is frustrating me on my rooted color Nook. I'm often opening it when I hit the space on the keyboard - or rather, when I just miss the space on the keyboard.

Is there any way to deal with this? Can I move the navbar drawer and even the whole status line to the top of the screen?

Not without installing a custom ROM, but then you will lose the Navbar completely.

Like darmeen said, customs ROMs have some nice navigaton bar features bringing a more tablet feel to the nook. Although what you are describing is annoying you do get somewhat use to it and will find yourself hitting the arrow less and less over time.
