can the Galaxy 8.9 play AVI files?

someone who has one, i'd like to know if a standard, internet downloaded tv show in AVI format can be played on this tablet

I'm considering buying one, but need the ability to play avi's on it

I think the standard video player supports avi but if it doesn't there are plenty of apps availible that do.
So you will be able to play AVI

Can't you find a review or specs listing on a website and check these things out? This is what I would do long before buying anything. Check specs, reviews, see if there are any vids on youtube showings the device working. Then visit a shop where possible to try one out or chat with a knowledgeable sales rep. If I wasn't reasonably sure I wouldn't buy.

according to some reviews, it's buit in MP4/DivX/Xvid/H.264/H.263 player, but i'm not sure if it can play all the avi videos since avi is a container format
