Does anyone know if it is safe and quicker to charge the Vi40 via the USB port using an iPhone power adapter?

Glad you joined us here Jamie!

I suppose it depends on the specs form the Onda charger.

It should list the output in VOLTS (VDC) and Amps. A typical USB port is 5 VDC and 0.5 Amps (500 mA). The iPhone charger is the same. A Kindle Charger is 5 VDC and 1.0 Amps (or maybe 0.9). iPad charger is 5 VDC @ 2.0 Amps.

If the volts match (and most do since 5 VDC is the USB standard), the amps will only change how fast it charges. Using less amps will charge slower, but using more amps than it was designed for could damage the tablet.
