DONE!!! You sir!! You are really awesome!!! It worked like a charm sir! Again, I'm in your debt, thanks a lot!!! Now I hope this helps everyone with this tablet. I saw a few threads upon this issue on this forum while looking for a solution for this problem. Would be ok for me to write on those threads and/or PM the people?

Sure we are here to help as many as we can.

The error is stating wifi module has loaded but unable to start your wifi, meaning your hardware is different than the hardware from which the dump was pulled, You need different firmware.

Good day.

I hope someone can help me regarding my coby kyros 8048-4 tab. My brother attempted to root the tab and went haywire so now, it only flashes the coby logo when the power button is turned on. I've searched for answers almost 2 years before and all the solutions posted in several forums just wouldn't make my tab working.

So I've bumped into this thread and I am wondering if it will fix my tab. Can I ask a couple of questions?
1. Is the 8048 dump compatible with 8048-4 of mine?
2. How do i go with CWM recovery?

Much appreciated for your help

1. If your brother tripped the nand lock on the tablet while trying to root it, then you're done. Even if he didn't, I don't think the dump is going to be of much use to you, because it requires a custom recovery, leading to the answer to your second question below.
2. Don't try it. If the nand lock Coby implemented in the tablet hasn't been tripped by the botched root, it will certainly be tripped when you attempt to install CWM. With Coby out of business there's no way to restore the internal storage once the (presumed) EFuse is blown that controls access to it.

Is there a way to repair the device? Unfortunately, the tab was rooted only days from purchase and its not covered on the warranty. I tried to consult from different repair shops but some do not seem to know how to repair the device. The others who may repair the tab charges me more than the cost of what I had purchased.

Bottomline... money wasted.

Well, the warranty in question must come from the place of purchase, since as I mentioned, Coby is out of business. As to this being money wasted, bricking a device is the risk one takes when seeking to root it in order to improve its function. Your brother didn't bother doing his homework and destroyed your tablet, and therefore HE should be purchasing you a new one.

As for repairing the device, there's no way I know of to fix it, even if the nand lock hasn't been tripped. Reason being Coby did not provide copies of their ROMs that could be flashed through the stock recovery.

Sell this unit on ebay for parts and call it a day.

Good day.
It appears that my tablet has CWM recovery installed before (I couldn't remember installing apparently), so I attempted to follow vampirefo's tuts on going about the dump and it worked.

However, the wifi cant be started so the firmware i installed is different from my device... does anyone has a dump for mid8048-4?

And you might also have done a nandroid backup and not remembered, so I'd dig through all my micro-SD cards looking for a folder called clockworkmod, containing a folder called backup, containing a folder named with a timestamp around the time it got rooted. If you find it, put that microSD in the tablet, boot to recovery, CWM should be able to find it, restore it. Also ask your brother if he has it, even if it's copied to a hard drive somewhere.
