    Help please

I have just purchased my first Android Tablet (7 Inch MID Android 2.1 WIFI 3G Mini Tablet) and the user manual is unhelpful to say the least. I'm trying to connect it to my PC. The manual tells me to connect to the computer USB via the USB adaptor on the tablet, to then tap Menu - Notification - USB conected. Then tap Mount "after the pop up boxes".

I am connecting as per instructions but when I tap Menu and then Notification I do not get the USB connected message. Instead the message is Disconnect Device?
That means I do not get a Mount dialog box.
How can I connect the tablet to my PC? (I have tried on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 PCs with the same result.)

    Thanks

    Chris

I am connecting as instructed but

Sounds like the thing might be defective

Not really. I now just take out the micro sd card, put it in a card reader and use it like an external disk drive on my computer. I transfer whatever I want to it and then put it back in the tablet. Works fine for me but note you will need a file manager program to deal with the files on the tablet. ES File Explorer works fine for me.
