Recently purchased a Lenovo Tablet k-1 I was wondering if epubs could be downloaded to this or if there was existing software that could be added to make it compatible.

For more specific info there are lots of threads about this but I use FB Reader. There are a number of ways to install e-books on your device, though in general you can just drop them in a folder called Books in the root folder of your sd card i.e. /mount/sdcard/Books . Most likely your tablet came with one e-reader or another though some, like Kindle Reader, are a bit more difficult to use if you are not buying/downloading books through your account with that particular book store, and may use proprietary formats and DRM.
