After looking at both the Tab and Nexus 7, I went with the N7 for two main reasons: 1) the screen and 2) Nexus... all the updates and no vendor crap.
I've got a Verizon Razr MAXX and the Verizon bloatware if very annoying.

Anyway, so I fire up the N7.
Enter my google ID.

And I notice apps are being downloaded... ok...

Hey wait, all the apps from my phone, even the Verizon crap is coming... arrrrrr

So, I had to jump into Play to stop the downloads and remove all of those others. I was so looking forward to a vanilla device. Oh well, doesn't seem to have caused problems.

Welcome to the forum. I believe there is an option in the setup you may have missed that asks if you want to backup and sync your account. Anyway after the fact you can go into Settings>Apps and uninstall apps from there that you don't want on your N7.

I have a better idea considering what you called the "stuff" coming in. You have a good opportunity to do a factory reset and not select sync with Google. If you uninstall the apps you don't want some leave bits of crud hanging out forever on your tablet.
