First time here after i root my tablet.....

Hi all. Great place for aNDROID THANKS.
My question is:
After successively rooted my Tablet (Android 4.0) what will be my next step to do? I am a total beginner to this and i read about flashing my device and adding a room and back up....(I do have the tablet as an extra to experiment).
So i read all of this but is a must do first after rooting your phone or table? what is this recovery thing.....
Basically what im asking id where to start and what are the recommended steps to do? Maybe you can give some links inside the forum to read by order or something...
