As you all might have read, I have a HC and Gingerbread VTAB. I side loaded Flash 11.1 to both by emailing the download as an attachment and then opening the attachment and installing it. It works on BOTH HC and GB tablets.

Why not just use Astro File Manager to install it then you would not have to e-mail it?

Even though I can install version 1.11 etc with Astro that flash player causes a whole new set of problems when trying to watch youtube videos in the Android Browser.

I could go on and on and on but the fact is your Gingerbread VTAB1008 does not have issues that the Vizio Honeycomb tablet introduced with embedded youtube videos.

I tried astro, it didn't get rid of 10.3. The mail download is clean and easy and worked.

I didn't have any trouble with Astro.

Astro tells you if you have to make a change to the settings and it even shows you right where the setting to change is if it has to be changed.

I am not having any problems on my HC tablet.

You would be having all sorts of problems if you ever tried to watch and pause YouTube videos in the Android Browser starting from www.youtube.com/?nomobile=1

With 10.3 of the Flash Player you could pause once but you would have trouble getting restarted.

With 11.1.111.6 of the Flash Player you might not even see a video until you go full screen.

Since the Honeycomb update (and even before) there has been some confusion about which version of Flash will run on the Vtab1008 due to a Playstore (Market) message stating incompatibility with the newer Flash versions. Generally speaking people without the latest Flash versions experience problems with apps that need Flash (video, browsers, music streaming) to work properly making it appear that the app is broken when really all they need to do is update Flash.

This thread is your chance to post up a pic of the Flash version currently running on your system to show that you can side load the newest Flash for people out there who aren't sure that is can be done via side loading.

<img src="http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=6210"/>

Can you try something for me please?

On a Vizio Honeycomb tablet check the following page out with Flash Player version 1.11.111.6 and the Standard Android Browser then tell me how many videos you can watch.

http://www.chemgapedia.de/vsengine/info/en/help/requirements/flash.html

If I try that page I can not see either video. But that page will work ok with the Dolphin Browser HD.

AND if I go back to Flash Player 10.3 then both those browsers will have problems with restarting after pausing.

Does anyone have the .apk of the stock flash that came on the tab originally. I sideloaded flash 11 and it does not work at all, so I uninstalled it and downloaded 10.3 from the adobe archives but it doesnt work either. I'm guessing that since the original one said "optimized for vtab" that it was some sort of custom apk.

I have a copy of the one that came with the Vizio Honeycomb but I can not add it as an attachment.

Plus I seen version 10.3 of the Flash Player come back after a reset to factory so that might be your best bet.

BTW I was talking to Vizio Customer Service again and they refuse to help me get the Adobe Flash Player working properly with Honeycomb. The girl I spoke to claims that is a Honeycomb issue and she didn't even care what the issues were other companies were having so those issues might not even be along the same line.

Plus after talking to Vizio today I started a YouTube channel just so I can easily document issues that I would like to Vizio take care of in an update.

I thought i had deleted it, but it is still there, go to manage apps in setting. I think you will find it there.

Thanks, I did wind up doing a factory reset. No big loss as I had only had the tablet for a couple days. But this did bring back the working flash.

If you install Astro File Manager from: ASTRO File Manager / Browser - Android Apps on Google Play you will be able to back up your installed applications and save your own copy of the Adobe Flash Player 10.3.

Astro File Manager saves your backed up applications in a folder called backups/apps and it will also let you install applications that were downloaded with tthe Browser. So that means it would be real easy to change from 10.3 to 11.1+ and back again.

Note: even though the latest Flash player has issues with the Standard Android Browser under Vizio Honeycomb it seems to work pretty well in Dolphin Browser HD.

I finally got around to side-loading Flash 11.1 and it solved the GB-introduced problems I was having with Flash web sites and videos in the Dolphin HD browser. I like playing the game at chainfactor.com and was unable to play on the vtab after the GB update. It works fine now in Dolphin as do embedded videos. As reported, the stock browser now has no Flash support but I find that better than Flash functions being almost in both browsers.
