Gmail Gone Walkabout

The gmail icon has disappeared from the desktop/tray of my (long in the tooth) LG-V410 (7" tablet). If I go into the play store, it offers for me to open it and lo, it appears. But the icon is very handy indeed and I would like to get it back. Your assistance requested. Thanks.

If the gmail icon appears in your app drawer, tap and hold the icon, then drag to one of your home screens and let go. The icon will stay.

Are you using a custom launcher? If not, reset the tablet.

Well, if it's not visible on your phone, but is shown in the playstore; uninstall from the PlayStore and reinstall.
That should bring it back.
