Gmail Refresh

Hello - I was under the impression that gmail pushed to the a500 instaneously. Unfortunately, when I receive a new message it often takes 2-5 minutes for a notification to arrive on my tablet. Are there any settings I can change so that mail arrives faster? When i send a test email my iPhone notifies me immediately, but this lag time on my tablet is driving me crazy. Any help would be appreciated

Make sure your Gmail account is set up ONLY for Imap (set this from the web). Disable Pop3 access. Enable Always use HTTPS.
In wifi settings, set your disconnect policy to NEVER.
In accounts and Sync, make sure top two check boxes are checked.

Also check to make sure youe Gmail settings in the Gmail app have the appropriate folders set to sync.
