My tablet came pre-installed with Google Market v3.3.12
What would I benefit by upgrading to Google Play (if possible)?

Google Play is just the rebranding of the Market.

They are the same thing, just a different name.

Google Play includes Books Music and Apps.

    Music becomes Play Music
    Books becomes Play Books
    Market becomes Play Store

I took a close look at the Google Play app that's on my DroidX, and notice that I can sort by newest or most helpful comments, and filter by my device model.
Can't do that with the older Google Market app.

Both are same just the name. Both are intended to download applications for your android smart phone.
