google wants to control EVERYTHING

I can't seem to use my calendar and contacts as I want without google's friggin omnipresence!
I bring up the calendar on my tablet and google wants to control EVERYTHING. Neither contacts nor the calendar wil lfunction at all - even after I signed up with big brother...I mean google, and jumped through their friggin myriad hoops. Any way around this?

There are many options beyond using Google calendar. More information about your tablet and the version of Android you are using would help to get the Google calendar app working.

I'm fairly certain that on at least some tablets you can elect not to sync with Google on the contacts and calendar. You could keep everything local if privacy or security is the issue.

If it's the fact that Google wants to control everything I'm afraid it's too late.
