help 8 year old locked us out

We bought our son a velocity cruz reader, aside from having difficulty loading apps. Our son has set a "puzzle" password nine dots in a tic tac toe pattern. He is 8 and promptly forgot what design he used for his "pass word". Is there any way to bypass this or override so the tablet can be used again?
