Help beginning android development

Ok so I am new to programming in general but understand that the majority of android development is done in Java unless you want to use the native development kit designed to integrate C++/C and other languages to be optimized by android but I was wandering should I try by reading a beginner android development book or should I start reading a beginner Java book? and if any has read a good book that helped them develop for android if you could point me in the right direction i would be very thankful

i would start with java and then learn how to implement it into android because thats android mostly is jave, or if you want to get to most bang for your buck learn adobe air because then you can program one app for both android and iphones, which i know this is an android site but there is a lot of money that can be made for devs on iphone
