Help with Chinese ICS or something Tablet

Hi there,
my nitwit of a brother begged my mom to buy him a chinese android(these things aren't that much cheap where I'm from) and the only things that bugging the hell out of him is the wifi. Its a Chinese android with gsm/3g

There wasn't any model specified on the box, but on the device settings something was written like Model A088, I attached the screenshots about how the device looks like and all the things I have absolutely no idea about.

Internet works fine through GSM but not through wifi ,

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is the first time I handled an android device

Have you checked under Settings that the WiFi is turned on?

I have had some problem with wifi:
1 - change channel from N to b/g (the fist one was too sophisticated for it)
2 - reduced psw leight (not too long or it fail)
