Help with ebooks

Ok so very new at this tablet thing. I have a sylvania 7" mini tablet. Model number SYNET7LP. When I download ebooks from slideme.org they do not go onto my bookshelves in ireader. What is wrong? What do I need to do? Please and thank you.

I like FBreader, I've been using it for years.

I also like FBReader, mainly for its ability to read .mobi files. Usually you will need to put the books in a folder mnt/sdcard/Books which may have already been created by the reader software.
