Herotab C8 help

Hi, I just purchased my Herotab C8 the other day and I am loving it.

I hear to get the most out of your tablet, you should root it. Can anyone point me in the right direction that will teach me how to do this with a Herotab C8.

And once i get it rooted, what is the best firmware I should be using? Android 2.3?? Right now I am using Android 2.2. Am i making any sense?
