I know how to do it on my Asus, but not on my wife's Xoom.

What exactly to you mean by clean boot. Is it the ASUS hard reset or a factory data reset?

If you have seen the documentation on a cold boot for ASUS that's the only thing I could suggest for the Xoom, except maybe using the vol + instead of vol -
