How to remove app icons from the 'Desk-top"?

Hi, my Craig is running on 2.2 (hopefully rooted). Is there a chance to remove some icons from the 'desk-top' (the first window on the start)

press and hold until they move, then look and you should see a trash can on your desktop to drag them into.

Thanks, but it works only on the desk-top that was created by me and it doesn't on the Home window. Is it unchangeable?

You can only delete them from what is called the shortcut screen or menus.

The other screen is a mash of all programs installed. Only way to get them off there is to uninstall them.

Some of the default apps cant be uninstalled.
