I Robot 7" tablet problem

I bought this tablet in April and have been using it without a problem (except battery life is way too short) for reading ebooks, surfing the net, facebook, etc. About a month or two ago someone lent me several paper books and I have not used the tablet in a while. I charged it and now when I turn it on, the green light comes on in the upper left and the little green android man comes on the screen, but nothing more happens. He's stuck. What might the problem be?? Thanks
