Hi Guys,

just got this tablet & it is in french, have changed the language to english & it is running Android 4.1.1
It doesnt have google play etc so am wondering can I completely wipe it & put a UK rom on it?

have tried factory reset but it just resets to the French install.

Any advice on how to do this would be great.

Thanks in advance

The company likely didn't submit the tablet to Google for compatibility testing, which is why you do not have Google apps on the tablet. The language of the tablet ROM won't matter here; a UK ROM wouldn't do anything for you except have the language default to English. If you want Google apps on the device, you need two things: a custom recovery and a Google apps install package for the version of Android you have. You use the custom recovery to install the apps package, assuming that your /system partition is large enough to store everything.

There are some issues though in doing this. The first is finding a custom recovery. It's not a well-known brand which means not too many people are likely to have it. That means the possibility of finding a developer who has the device is small. The second is deciding whether it's even worth it. You're using a tablet with a version of Android that is six years old now, which means the tablet itself is likely between four and six years old. Batteries last between two and three years before needing replacement. The apps you use will in many cases be old versions that will never see updates.

Usually, a new tablet is a better choice than trying to work with an old one. But, only you can choose which way you want to go.
