How to get these files to your device:

unzip the file to where you have adb at

adb push install-recovery.sh /data/local/tmp/install-recovery.sh

adb push CW_recovery.img /data/local/tmp/CW_recovery.img

adb shell

su

busybox mount -o remount,rw /system

exit

exit

adb push reboot-recovery /system/bin/reboot-recovery

adb shell

su

chmod 755 /system/bin/reboot-recovery

chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/install-recovery.sh

/data/local/tmp/install-recovery.sh

/system/bin/reboot-recovery

your device should now reboot into cwm-recovery.

to navigate use the volume up and down, power to select, back to go back

navigate to backup and restore and perform a backup

reboot the tablet.

now go to this link and download gapps and put it onto your sd card

20120429

open up adb

adb shell

su

reboot-recovery

You should now be back into cwm-recovery.

Navigate to install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard and select your gapps zip and install it, now reboot your device once its finished. You should now have gapps, but you will be limited to the apps you can download until we get your build.prop updated to fool the market into thinking you have a compatible device.

now go back to adb
adb shell
su
reboot-recovery
do another backup if everything is working right.

If not backup to a backup prior to installing gapps, reboot to confirm that the tablet is still functional. Than go back to cwm-recovery flash the gapps zip once again, than go back and go to advance and click report error. Reboot the tablet. There should now be a file in your clockworkmod folder on your sd card called recovery.log. turn on usb storage and view that log file with wordpad and copy the data to the forum so that we can look at it.

This is what I get when I attempt to flash gapps.

I havent figured out a solution for this yet....

If you are just talking about "device not compatible" message in google play, I havent had a chance to work on the build.prop yet since I am working on other issues with the tablet first.

any ideas? did you try the suggestion from traveller regarding a gapp without facetime? I would be happy to try that and see what happens...

Try grabbing a version of the Google apps package without facetime support and see if that solves your problem. You're apparently running out of space when attempting to install the package.

Any suggestions on where to look for one? Could I take the gapps provide and strip facetime from it than flash?
I also thought of moving some system apps to data but havent tried it yet.

I am sorry Diegom, one of my fellow supervisors at work has been hospitalized so I have to take over his work (as well as my own) for now. I havent had much free time to mess with this. Once I do I will keep posting my findings.

Flash back to your backup prior to installing gapps and than do another dl and post it.

jmblouin, that's the free space after a restore to a pre-gapps version.

powerpoint45, can you be more specific? There is none that says "without facetime" for dummies like myself, and by looking into the zips I can't really tell one which one has or does not have facetime. I don't mind looking if you point me to what I should look for.

Open up the 20120429 package in WinRAR or 7-Zip, delete the "Optional" directory and save the zip file. WinRAR/7-Zip will then recreate the zip file, which can then be installed using ClockworkMod.

P.S. I had Facetime confused with Facelock, which is a different feature.

I have a slight dilemma that I am not sure how to approach. I recently recieved a MID9740-8 as a gift, and I followed the root procedures for the 9742 (bad idea), I did not create a system dump, and now whenever I turn the tablet on, the screen is white and flickers. I didn't install CWM, so I can't ADB any of the dumps from this forum. Is there any possible way short of taking it back and attempting to get a new one?

-------------- EDIT --------------
Also, when I first got the tablet, I pulled the "phonesky.apk" (Google Play Store) from my phone and used the APK to install Google Play Store to the tablet. It installed correctly, and acted like it was about to pull it up, but then it fc (force closed) and did nothing. I assume it was because of the build.prop file not allowing it? If this was is possible to install Google Play, then just install the APK, and maybe copy a few lines from a working build.prop and see if it works.
