Low volume for videos

I tried watching a video (not on YouTube) and couldn't hear it very well. I tried turning up the volume but got a warning that listening at too high a volume could damage my hearing -- blah, blah, blah. It wouldn't let me turn it up any further than 3/4 of the way! BTW, I was using earphones. Does that matter?

Could be the earphone volume level is lower than that of the speakers, it is with my earphones. Try it using the speakers.

Most likely, the problem is with the volume level of the video soundtrack. If so, I don't think there's anything you can do to fix it.

Thanks. It is the earphones. All is fine when using the speakers.
Well, if there's nothing to be done about it, I'll just listen closer. o_O

Is your tablet a European model? Unlike in North America, the EU has restrictions on how high the volume can be increased, so one's ears aren't blown out by loud sounds.

Not that I know of. I bought it at Staples here in Canada.

It's possible Canada has a similar restriction, but I'm not aware of one for Canada.
