Hello,

I have an Allwinner A10 based tablet, from NXG electronics $2012-03-31-185508.jpg

I need help in rooting this device. I have tried using the Aurora Market fix. It did not work.

First off, the command adb devices recognizes the device with id as "????????????????" and it says no permissions.

Any kind of help is appreciated!

you should not need to root it as a10 device should come pre-rooted. A simpler way is to download "adw wireless" from google market and you can connect to adb using "adb connect <ip address>"

thank you for your answer. Yea i was also under the assumption that it would come pre-rooted.

Now that you mention it! I have a newer problem, i'm not able to download anything from the market :/ its in downloading state forever! So i'm not able to install any application. I obviously can't use adb install. If there is a way i can install the adw wireless app it'll be awesome! :)

Secondly, everytime i reboot, i think its flushing out all user data :/ so everything is getting reset on reboot!

Worst part is i'm not able to install any custom rom because the only ways i know are to use phoenixusbpro, (which doesn't work properly because theres always an installation error) and Aurora Market Fix ( but this wont work because you need superuser and busybox to be installed, which again i'm unable to do so) :/

as mentioned a10 device does not need superuser as its using a version of su that does not required it. There is misconception that superuser is required for rooting but its already a by-product of rooting. Its definitely more secure to use superuser with its verison su though but its not required on an a10.

here an apk for adb wireless: HERE

adb wireless will work if there is root access.

your data partition seem to be corrupted. The easiest is to reflash to your stock rom. if not, you may be able to try a factory reset from the settings.

Lol, i tried factory reset and guess what happens, everytime i reboot, the user data gets flushed, and i have a feeling, it actually does factory resetting automatically! :s

I tried reflashing it with this tool called PhoenixUsbPro. Is that suggested or do you think it should be LiveSuite that has to be used for successful flashing?

Also, i went through the other post of the CWM recovery, would you suggest to use it? Relatively stable enough?

thanks

I have not use PhoenixUsbPro before so I cant really commments. It seem to be use for mass flashing. Since it does not work for you, you should try the livesuite.

Not sure what you meant by if its stable enough. Its the CWM from Cyanogen source.

Alright, i was able to flash it using Livesuite!

(I'm still unable to get adb access using ubuntu, but i'm able to get it through windows {irony})

Its running ICS, as far as i know i'm supposed to install CWM from fastboot mode right? To begin with, when i take it into recovery mode i'm unable to access it using fastboot command in linux (havent tried in windows).

Your post on the recovery was meant for GB if i'm right. Can you tell me where i might get the CWM recovery image for the device? (or can i still use your own build?)

This is my output for lsmod and the keyboard mapping

Can the prebuilt files be used to flash it into the device?

(Just so that i don't screw up anything, how do i get the bootloader that is already available on the device?)

Thank you,

I know i'm bombarding you with questions but you seem to be a guru with this stuff!

What prebuilt are you referring to? If you want to know more about that, read this : [DEV] unofficial CyanogenMod 9/ClockworkMod Recovery 5 for Allwinner A10 tablets - xda-developers
