I have only bought this tablet to use some excellent drawing software. This are the instructions that I received:

You will need to download the Android installation file from the link below:
Downloads

Once downloaded, transfer to your Android device and install the program. When run, the program will operate in a demo mode that allows timed 15 minute sessions for testing purposes.

I'm not familiar with using smartphones or tablets. Could somebody guide me through the process please?:D

I've now got the jZip archive file in downloads on laptop. Tab2 is connected via USB and showing up as GT-P3110 portable media player on laptop?
When I connected the tab2 to laptop it couldn't complete the install drivers? (I thought here we go, good start!!)

Can I transfer the jZip archive file from laptop to Tab2 by copying and pasting?

If so, which file do I put it in?

How do I unzip it and get it to work?

Many thanks:cool:

No. You need to extract the APK file from the zip on your PC, then you copy the APK file you just extracted to the root of the MicroSD card of your tablet. From there, you need a file manager on the tablet to install the APK.

As to HOW you extract the file from the zip, I can't tell you as I use WinRAR, which may work differently from jZip. However, working with zip files is basic knowledge that you should have, and if not, jZip's help should explain how to extract files.

Thanks for you reply! So I need to unzip the file on my laptop and copy this onto the root file on the micro sd card on the tablet. Can I put it straight into the tablet itself? I didn't think that I'd need a micro sd card, so I didn't purchase one today. No bother, if I need to get one, I will buy it tomorrow.

Thanks

If you're running Android 4.x, you have an internal memory space where you can put the file. When you plug your tablet into the PC, you should have two drives show up. If you don't have a MicroSD card, the drive you can access is the internal storage.

I mentioned a MicroSD card simply because they're inexpensive and most tablet owners have one.

You can just copy it to your tabs internal memory.

I usually download zip files to my tab and extract them with ES File Explorer's included zip extractor.

I did not think that I would need an SD, because I only intend to use for one program initially. When I hooked tablet to my laptop for the first time, a window appeared that said installing drivers, but this failed for some reason. I run windows 7 home premium on 64 bit. Then I noticed that only the GT-P3110 had appeared. There is only this one reference on the laptop regarding the tablet. If I open this I see

Can I put the unzipped program into one of these folders?

Many thanks

Sure, put it in any one, just remember which one.

Then access it via a file manager on your tab.

I have created a file and named it with the name of the software manufacturer. I have put the extracted APK file in the newly created folder. I am really showing my ignorance here, it really is my first time. Does the samsung galaxy tab2 have a file manager, what is it called and where do I find it? Or do I have do install one of these file managers? I may find this tedious, but I feel like I have a beatiful bit of kit in the tablet and I am looking forward to eventually using it.

Many Thanks:cool:

I'm not sure if it has one, but check out ES File Manager or File Manager HD from the Play Store.

Oh FFS!!! This app is not recognised as being from the play store. (Because it is a specialist piece of software! It is not a toy!) Would you be good enough to explain to me how I tell it to accept this app? Is it something to do with blocking mode? I'm sorry for being a pain in the arse!!

Many thanks:cool:

Lol, we were all n00bs once.

Open Settings - Security - Unknown Sources. Check the box.

If it isn't there, look in Settings - Apps
