newbie in need of help!

i bought a telechips tcc 8902b apad, or something like that. from what ive seen this pad some under many names and manufacturers. the pad works really good so far. its connected to the internet and was able to browse the market place for awhile. thats where my prob is. whenever i try to install a app it stays in a starting download state. some ppl say the fix is to flash the tab or root it. i have no idea how to do any of that. if someone could help i would be forever greatful.
