Next3 8.4" (8.6") by Nextbook USA (Tablet & Ereader) with RockChip RK2818

I just registered cause I have a question about the Nex3: What's a cell standby? It reads 75% or sometimes 85% usage. I fiddled with it to see how I could turn this function off but couldn't find anything. I noticed it has a short battery life; am down to 87% after having it on for 30 minutes for reading w/Wi-fi off. (I don't have a smart phone, am not familiar with android.) Also, the portrait/landscape is not working on home page nor in the ereader but elsewhere (i.e., youtube, pictures). I got this cause the price, screen size, check email, but mainly as an ereader. Any help would be appreciated.

I must say, I have purchased the Next3 and it is NOT slow. The screen is a bit touchy, but getting used to it. Doesn't really have much lag. Was odd, after being used to my HTC HD2 capacitive screen, (It's 4.3") and doing Android like activities on it, played with my Next3 until the battery died and then used my phone for something this morning, the phone felt TINY! LOL. Anyway, so far so good.
Rooted it with Universal Androot and was poking around with Root Explorer.
Will post additional observations later.

Jut got my unit, just made the time line for the $159 deal and they HSN made the Xmas delivery promise.
I was looking for a replacment for my Augen The Book that worked fine but has only a limited browser and it was a pain getting E-books on it.
Looks interesting so far the good point is that if I do not like it, back to HSN.

Can you provide a Blow By Blow of how you did the root?
Which version did you use, I see that they have a few "beta" versions out.
Did you find any interesting things in your exploration?

Mine been on since I've posted the above without charging. It's not even 1/2 yet. You have something else running on that. I use ES Task Manager (I don't care I am using) Save a lot of trouble with that and it's Widget for the Homescreen. Got that setup to kills that Border bloat. There is no need to have that running in the background. Just what you need to use this tablet. If you have all this stuff running it's going to kill the battery. WiFi is at 100% and holding. I do got enough APNs here to blanket the dwelling for the tablets and the netbooks and the laptops and the wifi other gear etc..

Well it's faster than the A7 is.. Thin and well package better than A7 was. Marketing department at NextBookUSA gets a pat on their shoulder from me!
But with my Next3 I get CM3 showing 1,690 after using my tweak tools on it. Rooting it would be next best thing I should be able to get it up to 1,800. Still quicker than A7, near as fast as the Archos, then Pandigital 9".
In the picture to the lower left I just got another MID from China, but that one has that RTS acceleration panel it quick as my RDX Turbo WMT2.0_105 V1.5 (newest ROM)

OK stop teasing me I am still trying to build the intestinal fortitude to get my Flytouch clone out of factory V1.9_88 mode......

OK Tipster CLEAN UP THIS PUPPY.
The price was right.
I like the size and the package looks fantastic I can take this puppy with me all the time if its Cleaned up, I just am amazed the amout of Borders junk that they stuffed in.
I will keep tis one if its De-Bloted and we Have GM on it as well as the nice Android E-book readers, will keep the Flytouch for my general Android playing.
Pluged in a 16 Gig card and it works showing 15+gigs I pulled of the 150 free e-books that where included with the Augen "The Book" and this puppy reads them.
I wonder if you can do some interesting things with that USB setup.

See how much RAM is free, WiFi is 100%, Battery is 100% well in the photo it's 50% been for several hours and it doesn't run hot!

Yes I have my microSDHC 16GB Class (4) with SDHC adapter in Next3. Listen it plays my music videos in HD 720p and there is not shuttering like you have in a Pandigital 7" & 9". This is great I am sending back Elocity A7 next week as soon as UPS comes and take it alway. It's all boxed up and ready for them. Got my money back from Amazon for Archos they got that one email confirmed it ! Pandigital 9" also gone back the same time also with it issues. Epad Flytouch if I can make that go fast that's what did fun to ROM those with ePad and M150.

Green one the powersupply they sent me won't connect. So I'll make it connect. Someone give me a DRILL!

My husband is currently on my bad list. He is the one that ordered this product and he ordered one for him and one for me.

Lovely. He said he researched it and he did. Problem is, he does not know a thing about Android Tablets. Not many people do, actually. They are so new to the market. ((((((((((

So, our bank account suffered at the hands of this company. For the combined price of two Next2 tablets, I could have had one good tablet.

Oh those who wanted to use the Root app with Next3 beware it will mess it up. You'll have to do a factory reset to wipe out any left junk code.
I did see it root a bit but had to wipe it out. Fine now..

Wow I would join you. The wife forgot to get Egg Nog and it's wicked cold out. I'll have to go on Xmas Eve to get some. Not that hard to do really. You'll need the MicroSD card, copy a script folder over to it.
Cross your fingers insert the card into the device. Turn it on and say Amen! Once it done it will tell you to take the MicroSD card that folder has to be either renamed or removed off that card. Then you
can re-use it. Insert it back in. Start the pad and go from there... You'll be greeted by..

Then the words ANDROID then you should hear a flute play.. and see the new Slide Lock Screen.. Just like on an Apple device..

All in all these tablets are good for the money. I am really surprised so many people expect all the features at a low price point. The bottom line is it's good for what it is. If they are able to root it, it will be great. You can sideload apps, go to SlideMe or go to Handango. I def want gapps on this thing though.
